Happy New Year everyone! Now that the Christmas break is over and routine is starting to set back in, I would encourage everyone to think about what new training they can undertake to keep their fire investigation skills current. This often takes planning and resources ($$$) so be sure to prepare a good case for your employer/boss to invest in this aspect of training for you. Remember, deadlines for registration and departmental budgets often negate last minute requests for employers to free up the funds and personell so start the planning asap. Remember, training can take on many forms: attending a Provincial/National or International Training Conference, participating in a webinar or local and/or in-house training. If your thinking of making a new equipment purchase, often there are on-line tutorials you can learn from or request specific on-site training from a sales rep. Lastly, and a very important resource to include is the CFITrainer.Net on-line learning modules. These are readily available 'brain food' learning components with the added benefit of a quick online exam that you can include on your Curriculum Vitae's. In the spirit of practicing what you preach, I have successfully completed the 'Emerging Technologies in Fire Investigation' module today and was thoroughly impressed with the content.
Good luck with your training in 2025 and look for new CAFI webinars and training opportunities to come.
This is great info, Rich. Thanks for sharing!
