Nigel Thomas is a Career Firefighter/Fire Inspector with over 16 years of experience in the 
fire service, combining frontline emergency response with fire prevention, inspections, 
public education, and fire investigations.

 

He began his career in the building trades as a Red Seal Journeyman Electrician and licensed electrical contractor, later serving as a Construction Manager with FortisBC, experience that provides strong technical insight into building systems and fire protection features. Currently employed with the Summerland 
Fire Department, Nigel conducts fire inspections, enforces the BC Fire and Building Codes, 
delivers life safety education, supports and leads fire investigations in accordance with 
OFC and NFPA 921 standards, and regularly serves as Duty Officer providing incident 
command and operational oversight.

 

He is also an instructor delivering NFPA-compliant training, holds a PMP designation and multiple fire service certifications, and is committed to advancing fire prevention, investigative excellence, and public safety through ongoing professional development and collaboration.
