Martyn Payge, CFEI, CCFI-C, CFI-II

Martyn Payge is a Deputy Fire Marshal with the Office of the Fire Marshal Nova Scotia. Martyn has been with the OFM since November 2018. Martyn started his fire service career in 2008 in Ontario as a volunteer firefighter with the McMurrich Volunteer Fire Dept. He left McMurrich Fire Department when he moved to Burks Falls, where he transferred to the volunteer fire department there.

At Burk’s Falls & District Fire Dept, he gained his Level 2 Firefighter certification. After several years with the Burks Falls & District Fire Department, he was hired full-time in Fire Prevention, where he achieved the level of Chief Fire Prevention Officer.

Martyn graduated from the Ontario Fire College in Gravenhurst in 2014 with a Fire Prevention Officer Diploma and completed the NFPA 1031 Fire Inspector Level 2 Plans review course, where he achieved the NFPA 1031 Level 2 Fire Inspector. In 2017, Martyn completed a fire and explosion investigation course through the National Association of Fire Investigators that enabled him to become a CFEI through NAFI.

Martyn is a member of the Fire Inspector Association of Nova Scotia, where he has completed the Level 1 fire inspector and is working on achieving level 2. Martyn has conducted numerous fire investigations in Ontario and with the OFM in Nova Scotia. Martyn is also NFPA 1033 certified through Proboard, and IFSAC, and CAFI certified CCFI-C.
