This site is published by C.A.F.I. to provide a forum for the exchange of the technical information and to unite for the mutual benefit persons engaged in fire investigations. The Editorial Policy of the Association is to review and edit all submissions prior to printing, reserving the right to accept or reject submissions as decided by the Editorial Committee. The opinions expressed in articles published in the website are those of the authors and not necessarily of the Committee.

Our association was formally established in 1980 and is a national organization of professionals who, as a result of their occupation are involved in the investigation or adjustment of fire losses. Our members include:

  • Fire Services
  • Insurance Industry
  • Police Service
  • Fire Marshals and Fire Commissioners
  • Engineers
  • Private Fire Investigators
  • Barristers and Solicitors
  • Other fire investigation professionals

Our organization promotes the thorough investigation of all fires in an effort to improve public safety, reduce loss of life and property damage by providing a forum for professional liaison to share ideas, experiences and information through educational seminars and our publication The Journal.

This association is 25 years old and progressing with 950 members this year.

Training is an essential element of our association.  Chapters plan and conduct training seminars suited to their particular local needs. Seminars are advertised in The Journal and on this website under Training.

For the benefit of our members, our quarterly magazine The/Le Journal outlines topics pertinent to the fire investigation industry. If you would like to become a member, I urge you to look at the Membership page for an application form. Please read our organizations' Code of Ethics.

We also have an excellent line of Merchandise available for sale on our website or in the centrefold of our magazine. Order forms are available and can be obtained directly from this site.

We always welcome participation & feedback from our members, directors, chapter executives across Canada. Please refer to the Regional Chapters for the chapter representative near you and watch for chapter activities on our site. We also have Regional Directors in each Province who are available to assist with any questions you may have.
