"Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability" [Sam Keen]
Summer is generally a time when our focus can shift away from normal routines and most of us look forward to slowing down, taking a vacation and spending more time with family and friends.
This summer the CAFI Executive is looking back to our accomplishments to date this year which includes the transition to comply with the new Canada For-for-profit Corporations Act with seminars and a golf tournament in Ontario and British Columbia. In May NAFI/IAFI hosted a very successful Canadian Fire, Arson and Explosion Investigation program in Winnipeg.
The CAFI Executive is also planning
and looking forward to the next season when we will be offering two exciting
new educational opportunities to CAFI members including the requirements for
CAFI members who wish to obtain the CCFI-C (Canadian Certified Fire
Investigator Level C) designation. The
requirements to obtain this designation will be primarily based on experience,
education and designations previously obtained through existing fire
investigation organizations such as The National Association of Fire
Investigators and The International Association of Arson Investigators. We also look forward to announcing a
strategic alliance with The National Association of Fire Investigators to offer
CAFI members low-cost fire investigation webinar programs. If you know of a speaker, or are interested
in a particular topic for a seminar you would like CAFI to offer, please be
sure to let us know. More details will
be announced in September.
It is with regret but warm wishes
that we announce that Kenneth Munroe has resigned from the position of 1st
Vice President and as President of the CAFI Winnipeg Chapter as he is retiring.
We are indebted to Kenneth and thank him
for the many years he was involved with CAFI.
Kenneth’s retirement is our loss but we wish him well as he and his wife
start this well-deserved new chapter in their lives.
The success of any organization is
the people who are involved. We
currently have openings on the National and Regional committees and welcome
nominations to fill those spots. If you
are interested in filling one of the open positions please let us know before
the next Board Meeting scheduled for September.
An interesting on-line article
outlines 5 benefits of joining an executive board including leadership,
hands-on experience, responsibility, understanding group dynamics and community
and connections. Overall, being on the
CAFI executive board is one of the many ways to get involved, improve social
and professional contacts, discover new career opportunities and make a
difference. This is YOUR organization
and we can only get better with your help and involvement.
Best wishes for a wonderful
